***Technical guide***
--------------------------
[Tip: To make the game run smoother on older systems that don't have a lot of RAM, increase your paging file size to 2048 MB. You need to have at least 2GB of free disk space on your hard drive, as those 2GB will be set aside for Virtual Memory:
Right-click 'My Computer' --> Properties --> Advanced tab --> Performance: Settings --> Advanced tab --> Virtual memory: Change --> select C: drive --> select Custom Size --> Initial size (MB): 2048 , Maximum size (MB): 2048 --> Set --> OK]
# If you installed the game correctly (see ***Installing FM09 guide for dummies***) and have problems starting or when playing the game, chances are you have an out-of-date graphics and/or Java configuration. Install:
1) Latest drivers for your video card:
NVIDIA: nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
ATI: ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
Intel: downloadcenter.intel.com
2) - Windows XP: DirectX 9.25.1476 (November 2008):
microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=886ACB56-C91A-4A8E-8BB8-9F20F1244A8E
(DirectX that comes with the game is an older DirectX 9 version, not this latest one)
- Windows Vista: Windows Vista Service Pack 1:
windowsupdate.microsoft.com
(It includes many fixes for Vista and updates DirectX 10 to DirectX 10.1)
3) Java 6 Update 10:
java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
You must reboot your computer for the changes to take effect.
## If you still have problems after doing all the above, your video card, RAM or CPU may be below what you need to run this game properly.
Check your system specs with PC Wizard (cpuid.com/pcwizard.php). You need at least:
CPU: 800MHz
Memory: XP: 512MB RAM / Vista: 1GB RAM
Video card: 128MB supported chipset
